U.S. urges all parties in Kyrgyzstan to act according to Constitution

AKIPRESS.COM - "In light of recent events in #Kyrgyzstan, we reiterate our consistent support for elected, democratic institutions and adherence to the rule of law," Acting Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia Alice Wells said in a statement. "We urge all parties to restore calm and act in accordance with the Kyrgyz constitution and Kyrgyzstan's democratic traditions," she said.
Meantime, the U.S. Embassy has issued demonstration alert for its citizens and recommended to avoid central Bishkek, including government buildings and main arteries leading to the center. U.S. government personnel have been advised to avoid downtown Bishkek from the evening of Friday August 9 until Monday August 12.
