AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev plans to propose to toughen the criminal penalty for sexual abuse, he posted on Twitter, Vlast.kz reported.
"In the addressing to the nation, which I plan to make on September 2, will be spoken orders to the Parliament and the government concerning toughening of the criminal penalty for drug dealing, pedophilia, sexual abuse and other crimes," he wrote.
Now social activists and citizens of Kazakhstan are demanding to toughen penalty for raping following the rape case in the train last year. The conductors that raped a girl got only 2.5 and 2.3 years of sentences, as a court said the rape was not gang raping.
Last week, Minister of Interior Erlan Turgumbayev said that the punishment for raping should be tough.
