President instructed not to use weapons - National Security Committee head

Bishkek, Aug.13, 2019. /Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov did not know about the time of the event to bring former President Almazbek Atambayev, Orozbek Opumbayev, the State Committee for National Security Chairman said at the press conference at Kabar News Agency.
Opumbayev explained he was reporting to the President that "there are such moments and they have to be solved in the legal field."
"The President has instructed not to use weapons so that there are no victims. And I chose the time of the detention. I proceeded from the operational situation on the bringing. This is not a special operation, but an action. The officers came in unarmed," he said.
Opumbayev said the special operation was held on the second day, it was an action on the first day.
A clash between law enforcers and supporters of Atambayev occurred on Aug. 7 in the evening in Koi-Tash village, in the house of Almazbek Atambayev during the forcible transfer of the former President to the investigative bodies in the case of kingpin Aziz Batukayev.
As a result, Usen Niyazbekov, deputy head of the Alfa special unit of the State Committee for National Security was killed and more than 40 people were injured.
On Aug.8, law enforcement agencies detained Atambayev at his home in Koi-Tash, and then he was placed in the detention facility of the State Committee for National Security until Aug.26.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in connection with the mass riots in Koi-Tash, the killed special forces officer and the injured law enforcement officers.
