Bishkek, Aug.13, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov held a meeting with members of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the 100th anniversary of conspicuous statesman and politician of Kyrgyzstan Turdakun Usubaliev.
Jeenbekov noted the special contribution of Turdakun Usubaliev to the social and economic development of the country and the strengthening of statehood, the press service of the Kyrgyz President reported.
"During the quarter century of Turdakun Usubaliev's leadership, Kyrgyzstan has undergone great changes, and we have become an industrial country from an agrarian country. The changes have affected the economy, culture and almost all spheres of life. More than 100 large industrial enterprises were opened in the country, including hydropower plants, Manas International Airport, factories, museums and others. He also paid special tribute to the development of thousands of irrigated lands and to the issues of land reclamation and irrigation," said Jeenbekov.
"Turdakun Usubaliev's contribution to the development of the country is invaluable," the President noted and stressed the importance of holding anniversary events at the highest level.
First Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Organizing Committee Kubatbek Boronov presented information on the preparations for Turdakun Usubaliev’s 100th anniversary.
As part of the plan of action to perpetuate the memory of the prominent statesman, the issue of naming one of the peaks of Kyrgyzstan and the Old Square of Bishkek is being considered.
At the same time, a number of cultural and scientific events, memorial evenings and the preparation of biographical publications are planned. The implementation of all the planned activities takes place within the previously established timeframes.
Turdakun Usubaliev’s grandson, Ermek Usubaliev, and Organizing Committee member Shamshybek Medetbekov expressed gratitude to the President for the support and initiative to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Turdakun Usubaliev.
Turdakun Usubaliev was a Soviet Union-era Kyrgyz politician and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan in the period 1961–1985.
From 1956 to 1958, he was the head of one of the departments of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan, and from 1958 to 1961, he was the First Secretary of the Frunze City Committee of the Communist Party of Kirghizia. Then, from 9 May 1961 until his retirement on 2 November 1985, he was the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan.
