AKIPRESS.COM - The Naryn region police denied reports that policemen who were called in to the Solton-Sary gold mine for maintaining public order were not provided with proper conditions for sleepover.
The comment came after a photo showing policemen allegedly sleeping on the floor of a gym classroom appeared online.
Naryn police said the policemen on duty in Solton-Sary were provided with tents.
At the moment, police officers are on duty at specially designated posts.
On August 5, hundreds of local people protested against the Chinese company working at the Solton-Sary gold deposit and demanded to suspend the operation. They demanded Chinese workers and special machinery to leave. Rock throwing occurred during the protests, machinery and cars were damaged. About 20 Chinese workers were reported injured.
Chinese company Zhong Ji Mining Company activities in the Solton-Sary gold deposit have been suspended, the government said citing the First Deputy Prime Minister Kubatbek Boromov on August 7.
