Russian scientists start testing 14 breeds of rice in Uzgen

AKIPRESS.COM - Scientists from Russia started testing 14 breeds of rice in Uzgen district, Turmush reports. Local authorities said the works on sowing the rice are being carried out in the village of Sheraly as part of the Integrated development of Osh region program.
Testing is being held on the basis of the state variety testing site. The seeds are imported from Russia.
According to head of the district Baktybek Alaichiyev, the rice is considered as a brand product of the district and that the crop yield should be increased.
Those breeds that will successfully undergo the testing will be grown on farmlands.
Rice is grown on about 3,300 ha of land in Osh region, including 3,025 ha in Uzgen.
