Mayor Bakytzhan Sagintayev offers to plant 1 million trees in Almaty

AKIPRESS.COM - Mayor of the city of Almaty Bakytzhan Sagintayev chaired a meeting on a large-scale greening of the city, he told on Instagram. "Now there are 2.2 million trees in Almaty, but 550 thousand of them are damaged and sick," he says.
Therefore, the mayor proposed to start implementing a 3-year project "Jasyl Almaty" (Green Almaty), which envisages planting of at least 1 million trees in the city.
"We should plant the trees in new micro districts, streets, gardens and create new boulevards, squares, parks and rest zones for residents," he noted.
In his post, Sagintayev offers each resident of Almaty to plant 1 tree to change the ecology.
