AKIPRESS.COM - 80% of meat of the diseased cow that was slaughtered in the village of Olginka were seized, head of the department of epidemiological surveillance of extremely dangerous infections of the committee of quality control and security of goods and services of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan Zauresh Jumadilova said, InformBureau reports.
"We took 80% of the meat. 80% were eaten - about 10 kg. A total of 144 kg have been seized and eliminated. There was a contact with people, they bought the meat, therefore, we will conduct raids among contact people and check their temperature twice a day in three villages - Olginka, Nikolaevko and Arshaly," the chief of the department said.
According to her, five people with the suspected anthrax diagnosis were hospitalized in Olginka, including four were confirmed being diagnosed anthrax.
All of them participated in slaughtering of the cow without veterinary check. 99% of cases of infection are due to involvement in slaughtering, she noted.
The population often avoids veterinary services. When the animal feels bad, people try to kill it and sell its meat as soon as possible, according to her.
Among those contacted, no infection was revealed, Jumadilova said.
All cattle in the village of Olginka are under control. The quarantine will be lifted in 15 days, according to the veterinary services.
