AKIPRESS.COM - The emergency situations committee of the Interior Ministry of Kazakhstan said no results were gained during search operation of the Kazakh alpinists trapped in the Victory Peak of the Tian Shan mountains, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports. The rescue helicopter with a team of skilled alpinists departed from the base camp Karkara for search operation today morning.
The committee said that a group of rescuers has been searching for those trapped in the mountains with the help of a thermal camera for two hours at the height of 200-6,400 meters.
The operation has been conducted under a supposed location of the trapped alpinists.
"There are no results at a moment," the committee noted.
Three Kazakhstani alpinists were trapped in the Victory Peak of the Tian Shan mountains at the height of 6,900 meters. One of them is supposedly dead. The alpinists last contacted on August 15 and sent out a mayday call when their equipment and tents were blown away by wind. They dug a hole and sought shelter there.
Rescuers from Kyrgyzstan also attempted to search and evacuate the alpinists, but unsuccessfully.
