AKIPRESS.COM - The emergency situations committee of the Interior Ministry of Kazakhstan said rescuers can not continue search operations in the Tian Shan due to the weather conditions, Zakon.kz reports. "The MI-171 board of the Interior Ministry with a group of military alpinists today can not depart from the Karkara base camp and continue search operations due to the deterioration of weather conditions. Its is snowing in the mountains. We are waiting for the light," the press service of the sommittee reported.
The Kazakh military alpinists on August 19 flew around the Victory Peak in Kyrgyzstan with the help of thermal camera, but unsuccessfully.
Three Kazakhstani alpinists were trapped in the Victory Peak of the Tian Shan mountains at the height of 6,900 meters. One of them is supposedly dead. The alpinists last contacted on August 15 and sent out a mayday call when their equipment and tents were blown away by wind. They dug a hole and sought shelter there.
Rescuers from Kyrgyzstan also attempted to search and evacuate the alpinists, but also unsuccessfully.
