AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan will not introduce a total ban on export of cattle from the country due to the high demand from Uzbekistan, Informbureau reported. The restrictions will be applied only to a breeding stock. The decision was aimed at avoidance from deprivation of farmers of opportunity to sell cattle to neighboring country 30% more expensive than within the country.
According to Vice Minister Gulmira Isayeva, first the Ministry was considering a total ban on cattle export, but then the Ministry decided to ban only export of breeding stock and allow the local farmers to sell their cattle more expensive in Uzbekistan.
The need for export ban of cattle appeared due to a sharp growth of demand in Kazakh cattle from Uzbekistan last year. This led to uncontrolled export of not only the animal, but also a breeding stock, which was then bought by the government.
One of the resolution of this issue, according to Isayeva, is creation of a wide network of modern meat factories.
