Over 156 thsd children in Kyrgyzstan to go to first grade in new school year

Bishkek, Aug. 21, 2019. /Kabar/. According to current data, more than 156 thousand children will go to the first grade in the new school year, Kyrgyz Education Ministry’s press service reported.
These include Bishkek -22 thousand 981 people, Osh city- 11 thousand 69, Osh Oblast -22 thousand 210, Naryn Oblast-13 thousand 982, 15 thousand 182 people in Issyk-Kul Oblast, Jalal-Abad Oblast -25 thousand 257, Batken Oblast- 11 thousand 443, Chui Oblast -23 thousand 600 and 10 thousand 540 pupils in Talas Oblast.
The total number of pupils in grades 1 to 11 this year will amount to 1 million 268 thousand.
Over the past five years, the number of schoolchildren in urban areas has increased by 25 % and in rural areas by 14 %.
The number of schools in the country has increased to 2 thousand 265 educational organizations.
