Bishkek, Aug.22, 2019. /Kabar/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Chingiz Aidarbekov yesterday, Aug. 21 met with United States Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.
The press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported that the sides expressed their readiness to increase cooperation on topical issues of bilateral relations. They also confirmed interest in intensifying talks on preparation for signing the basic agreement on cooperation between the two countries.
"The U.S. side expressed support for democratically elected institutions and the rule of law in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the fight against corruption, conducted by President Jeenbekov. The Kyrgyz side expressed interest in continuing cooperation on the issue of returning illegally exported assets from Kyrgyzstan. Possibilities of investment cooperation, involvement of American business in Kyrgyzstan, as well as regional security issues were discussed," the statement said.
The meeting took place on the margins of the Central Asia-U.S. High Level Meeting.
