Jeenbekov: Main objective of judicial and legal reform is to achieve fair trial

Bishkek, Aug.22, 2019. /Kabar/. "The main objective of judicial and legal reform is to achieve fair trial", President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov stressed at the meeting with Ak-Talaa region residents.
The President noted the work on purification of the judicial system, law enforcement agencies and improving the legislation had been intensified, his press service said.
"Digital infrastructure and video surveillance systems will be introduced as a matter of priority. This will lead to a reduction in corruption. All cases will be registered in a single register," Jeenbekov stressed.
"We're getting rid of old repressive laws and moving on to new legal standards. Not quite serious offenses are excluded from the criminal list and will be considered as offenses as part of humanization of the legislation. People who have committed offenses will not be imprisoned; fines and public works are provided.
I would like to emphasize that the judicial and legal reform needs the support of the population. No reform can be without flaws, but we must not turn away from the planned path," the President stressed.
