Uzbekistan, USA discuss situation in Afghanistan

Tashkent, Aug.23, 2019. /Kabar/. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and United States Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale exchanged views on the peaceful settlement of issues in Afghanistan and the active involvement of this country in regional processes, the press service of the Uzbek President reported.
The U.S. side highly appreciates the reforms underway in Uzbekistan in the field of state building and formation of a strong civil society, as well as reforms, aimed at improving the standard and quality of life of the population, ensuring the rights and freedoms of citizens.
The sides expressed support for the efforts of Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries to strengthen relations of friendship, good neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation in the region.
David Hale reiterated the firm commitment of the United States to further develop the strategic partnership and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
