President: Energy sector needs urgent reforms

Bishkek, Aug.23, 2019. /Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov received Aitmamat Nazarov, the Chairman of the National Energy Holding Company OJSC Board.
The sides discussed measures to strengthen the country's energy security, reform the energy sector and prepare for the upcoming heating period, the press service of the Kyrgyz President reported.
"The energy sector needs urgent reforms, and residents in the cities and regions of the country should be provided with uninterrupted electricity," Jeenbekov stressed.
The Kyrgyz leader noted the importance of uninterrupted power supply to the economic sectors, business entities, provision of the reserve capacity. He also stressed the need to strengthen cooperation with neighboring states on the issues of joint and rational use of water and energy resources.
Chairman of the Board of the National Energy Holding Company Aitmamat Nazarov spoke in detail about the measures to prevent emergency situations at energy facilities, the introduction of smart meters in energy companies, the expansion of the electricity market, the reserve of additional capacity and facilities, commissioned this year under the policy of regional development.
