Strategic agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Centerra Gold Inc. enters into force

AKIPRESS.COM - The strategic agreement between the Kyrgyz government and Centerra Gold Inc. has entered into force, the government's press service reported following the meeting held by Prime Minister Muhamedkaliy Abilgaziyev.
As a result of the additional negotiations, the overall sum of financial receipts under the agreement until 2023 was increased from $87 million to $150 million, including geological exploration funding.
The document that entered into force was signed on 11 September 2017 and included the list of obligations that parties need to comply with to make the agreement effective.
"Before the end of this year, the Kyrgyz Republic will receive over $77 million, including $7 million for Cancer Service Development Fund," Prime Minister Abilgaziyev said.
The funding will be distributed in view of activities of the Nature Development Fund and Social Partnership Fund for Development of Regions.
Economy Minister Sanzhar Mukanbetov presented the information on activities of the Social Partnership Fund for Development of Regions at the meeting. The Fund will finannce investment projects on development of regions, support and creation of enterprises in the regions, implementation of infrastructure projects, support and financing of green projects aimed at environmental protection and increase of biodiversity.
The Nature Development Fund will support effective use of natural resources, will finance nature reserves, projects aimed to improve environmental condition and preserve natural wealths, Deputy Director of State Environmental Agency Eldiyar Sheripov said.
