Japan's architect to make concept of design of Uzbek Arts Museum reconstruction

AKIPRESS.COM - Japan's architect Tadao Ando will prepare a concept of design of reconstruction of the State Arts Museum of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, Deputy Director of the Information and Mass Communications Agency, said. The world-renowned Japan architect, winner of the 1995 Pritzker Prize Tadao Ando will make a concept of the design of reconstruction of the State Arts Museum of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva said on Facebook.
The respective agreement was signed between the Arts and Culture Development Fund and the architect. "Ando uses national aesthetic specifics in his designs of modern buildings. The works of the renowned architect include designs of theaters, museums and arts centers in Italy, France, U.S., Japan," Saida Mirziyoyeva stated.
The State Arts Museum of Uzbekistan was opened in Tashkent in 1918. The current museum building was built in 1974. The museum collection includes paintings of European and Russian artists of the 17-19th centuries, including those by Canaletto, Dow, Latour, Tropinin, Borovikovskiy, Yaroshenko.
