Social development minister, UN Women in Kyrgyzstan rep discuss co-op issues

Bishkek, Aug.30, 2019. /Kabar/. Minister of Labour and Social Development of Kyrgyzstan Ulukbek Kochkorov and UN Women representative in Kyrgyzstan Ulziisuren Jamsran discussed priority issues of further cooperation in the field of gender equality
During the meeting, Ulziisuren Jamsran voiced a number of important directions for the promotion of gender policy, as well as demographic and security issues to be brought to the level of government for decision making, the press service of the Labour Ministry reported.
Kochkorov noted some work is being done in this direction. As an example, he said within the framework of the state social order crisis centers are supported, which provide support to women subjected to violence. He added opening 2 crisis centers is planned this year, where psycho-social, legal assistance and social services will be provided to men and women subjected to violence.
He also informed about the second Shanghai Cooperation Organization Women's Forum and National Conference "Women's Entrepreneurship" held in Bishkek, where it was noted that the Kyrgyz Government makes every effort to support and improve the role of women.
In addition, the issue of women's representation in local council elections is raised, which can help to eliminate permanent conflicts and address social issues.
The minister stressed active work will continue to provide equal rights and opportunities to people of different sexes in political, social, economic, cultural and other spheres of life.
