Ex-mayor Albek Ibraimov refuses to give testimony at court hearing

AKIPRESS.COM - The Lelin district court of Bishkek on August 30 continued a court hearing on the case of former mayors of the city Kubanychbek Kulmatov and Albek Ibraimov. During the process, Ibraimov refused to give a testimony taking the privilege of not answering the questions.
"All of these defendands sitting here plea bargained and refused to explain why they did it. I think that they did it, because they were put in remand prison of the National Security Committee for 2-3 weeks. This is a pressure. If they don't testify, then I won't do it either," he said.
Among those who refused to answer the questions of attorney Sergey Slesarev are Urmat Murzakanov, Renat Makenov, Dmitry Yakovlev. All of them are involved in the municipal land plots case. According to the investigation, the land plots were illegally allocated during the tenure of Ibraimov as mayor.
The hearing was postponed to September 2.
