Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan denies suspected terrorist detained in Sweden was a citizen of Uzbekistan

AKIPRESS.COM - The Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan denied August 29 that the suspected terrorist detained in Sweden on August 16 was a citizen of Uzbekistan.
"On August 29, the diplomatic mission received an official response from the Ostersund District Court stating that the detainee is not an Uzbek citizen," the statement said.
Prosecution Authority of Sweden said that police detained a man in central Sweden on suspicion of conspiracy to commit "a terrorist crime". Swedish Radio said the man was from Uzbekistan and the daily Aftonbladet, citing unnamed sources, said police were checking possible links between the suspect and Rakhmat Akilov, an Uzbek Islamist militant convicted of killing five people with a stolen truck in Stockholm in 2017.
