The 97th meeting of Kazakh-Russian Joint Demarcation Commission was hosted in Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar city from August 26 to August 30, Trend reports with reference to the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
Thus, parties continued the work on developing and approving projects of final demarcation documents, and jointly conducted field investigation at the Pavlodar-Altai section of the state border.
The negotiations were held in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, the report said. The next meeting of the commission is to be held in September-October 2019 in Russia.
The Kazakhstan–Russia border is the 6,846 kilometers long international border between the Kazakhstan and the Russia. It is the longest continuous international border in the world, and the second longest by total length (after the Canada–United States border). It is in the same location as formerly the administrative-territorial border between the Kazakh SSR and Russian SFSR.
The border assumed its modern shape in 1930, and became an international border upon the dissolution of the USSR in 1991.
