AKIPRESS.COM - Head of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund Erkin Asrandiev went missing during his attempt to swim across Issyk-Kul lake on August 31 evening and was found alive.
'We did not guess the weather, and it turned out that the nature is no joke," he said.
"At 17:30, the storm, wind and 2-3 meter waves rose in the middle of the distance. We lost each other and it turned out that the boat overturned. The second motorboat had sailed half an hour earlier to the shore for extra food and couldn't leave, having twice turned over at the shore," Asrandiyev says.
"Thank God it all ended well. The accompanying guy was found six hours later safe and sound. I made it seven hours later to the shore and was picked up by the rescuers," he said.
43-year-old Asrandiyev tried to swim across the lake between the villages of Chyrpykty on the northern shore and Kara-Talaa on the southern shore. He was accompanied by several people on a boat. The swim started around 8 a.m. After a while the wind and waves rose and the people who were on the boat accompanying his swim lost Erkin from the sight.
Prime Minister Muhamedkaliy Abilgaziyev instructed the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other competent bodies to mobilize all efforts to search for Asradiyev. The search involved a boat, a motor ship, and a search and rescue team.
