Bishkek, Sept.3, 2019. /Kabar/. Efforts to monitor the implementation of joint projects aimed at supporting poor families will be strengthened, Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Labour and Social Development Ulukbek Kochkorov said at the meeting with Andrea Bagnoli, Country Director of the UN World Food Programme (WPF) in the Kyrgyz Republic.
At the beginning of the meeting, the minister thanked the WFP, represented by Andrea Bagnoli, for the support and assistance provided over several years, and expressed hope for further active and fruitful cooperation.
In turn, Andrea Bagnoli said 800 projects were implemented in five oblasts of the country, in which more than 90 thousand people took part.
Project participants and their family members received compensation in the form of food aid for community work or training in their professional skills, in so doing some participants received compensation in the form of money. He added that WFP is ready to continue to support.
Following the meeting, the sides noted the need to improve the work in this direction, as well as to strengthen control over the implementation of joint projects aimed at reducing poverty.
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the food-assistance branch of the United Nations and the world's largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger and promoting food security. According to the WFP, it provides food assistance to an average of 91.4 million people in 83 countries each year.
