AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Interior of Kazakhstan Yerlan Turgumbayev commented on the situation in Zhanaozen city of Mangusta region, where people were protesting against construction of the Chinese plants, Zakon.kz reports. "A group of people rallied allegedly against 55 Chinese plants that are opening in Kazakhstan. To date, this information is false and there are no such plants opening in the country. There are joint enterprises and investments. But reports that are spreading on social media are wrong and illegal. If there are calls for illegal protests, then the law enforcement bodies will calm down these rallies. At a moment, there are no violations of public order," Turgumbayev said.
About 500 residents of Zhanaozen on September 3 gathered at the central square to respond to construction of 55 Chinese plants in Kazakhstan. The protests began on September 2.
