AKIPRESS.COM - The Uzbek Meteorological Service and the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia signed a contract for supply of 50 automatic meteorological stations, the Uzbek Met Service said.
The World Bank will finance supply of the stations, which will be installed at stations and posts of the Uzbek Meteorological Service in the regions of Uzbekistan and will help improve climate monitoring systems enhancing reliability of observations and promptness.
The stations will be supplied under the Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for Aral Sea Basin. The development objective of the Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for the Aral Sea Basin Project for Central Asia is to enhance regionally coordinated access to improved climate change knowledge services for key stakeholders (e.g., policy makers, communities, and civil society) in participating Central Asian countries, as well as to increase investments and capacity building that, combined, will address climate challenges common to these countries.
