BISHKEK, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan has seen a slight increase in the incidence of flu and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), the Health Ministry reported Tuesday.
The rise in incidences begins in the cold season, facilitated by the high resistance of the flu virus to low temperature and a decrease in human defenses during hypothermia, the report said.
According to the Health Ministry, since early September there has been a slight increase of 5.9 percent in the incidence of the ARVI in Kyrgyzstan.
To strengthen preventive measures and prevent complications from flu among the public, the Health Ministry purchased more than 150 thousand doses of flu vaccines intended for risk groups, including medical workers, people with chronic diseases, sick children, children in orphanages, boarding schools, and pregnant women.
