Bishkek, Sept.11, 2019. /Kabar/. Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan Ibrahim Dzhunusov met with United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Regional Representative for Central Asia Ashita Mittal.
The press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported that at the meeting, topical issues of international cooperation in combating drug trafficking; including improving the effectiveness of joint projects and programs were discussed.
Mittal highly appreciated the active role of Kyrgyzstan in international efforts to combat drug trafficking, as well as the success of the competent authorities of the country in preventing drug-related crimes and suppressing transnational drug trafficking channels.
The UNODC regional representative invited Dzhunusov to participate in the 54th session of the Sub-Commission on Illicit Drug and Related Matters in the Near East and Middle East, to be held in Tashkent on Sept. 23-27, 2019.
The Kyrgyz ambassador expressed his gratitude for the high appreciation of Kyrgyzstan's role in the fight against drug trafficking and the invitation to participate in the 54th session of the Sub-Commission, noting that the Kyrgyz Republic attaches great importance to the expansion of cooperation with the UNODC and highly appreciates the jointly implemented projects.
The sides also discussed further cooperation between the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic and the UNODC Regional Office.
