AKIPRESS.COM - A number of road accidents as part of the Safe City project decreased in Bishkek, but statistics for 7 months of 2019 shows that the situation on roads worsened, Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Jenish Razakov said on September 13 at the session of the Onuguu-Progress faction. According to him, a number of traffic accidents fell by 49% in Bishkek and by 50% in Chui region. However, a number of official cases of road accidents made 3,492 and this figure is higher than that of last year.
As a result, 380 people died in road accidents during this period. A number of road accidents increased in Talas, Osh and Batken regions.
MP Altynbek Junus uulu said that drivers of cars with foreign plate numbers are violating traffic rules. "It this continues, then it will lead to outrage of scrupulous drivers," he said.
MP Ziyadin Jamaldinov underlined that the size of fines for violation of traffic rules were established properly. "They should follow the rules, if they think fines are too much. We should rather reduce a size of fines up to 75% in case of payment within 15 days," he noted.
Upon completion, a number of protocol orders have been issued.
