Felting business in Issyk-Kul receives equipment from Japanese Government

Bishkek, Sept.16, 2019. /Kabar/. The Government of Japan has provided assistance in the form of felt business equipment to small businessmen of the Issyk-Kul Oblast.
Support was provided as part of the project to activate local communities by promoting of small businesses in the Issyk-Kul Oblast through the One Village, One Product (OVOP) approach.
In particular, the project was aimed at purchasing equipment for processing and testing wool products in Karakol city, Issyk-Kul Oblast with a total amount of $ 121.5 thousand. In addition, 13 people have been trained in Japan.
"Since 2011, we have been exporting felt products to the Japanese company Modji. This company has stores not only in Japan but all over the world. We export about 20,000 to 25,000 units each year. In addition, there are customers in small volumes in China and St. Petersburg," Nargiza Erkinbayeva, chairwoman of the One Village - One Product Public Organization told reporters.
In addition, within the framework of the One Village - One Product project, the same enterprise produces jam and honey, which are also exported, in small amounts so far.
Note that, Japan, through the One Village, One Product (OVOP) movement, has implemented the Local Community Activation Project in Issyk-Kul Oblast, which activates local communities and also creates a sustainable system for regional development (aid period: November 2006-December 2011)
This cooperation aims to create a system for implementing local policies to promote industry in public-private cooperation, as well as to enhance regional production through the establishment of the OVOP Center in the capital Bishkek, which will deal with the sale of regional products, business negotiations and technical support.
