FMs of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan discuss incident on border by phone

Bishkek, Sept. 16, 2019. / Kabar /. In connection with the incident in the area of ​​the Maksat border post on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov held a phone conversation with Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Mukhriddin.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, during the conversation, Aidarbekov emphasized the unacceptability of the use of firearms by the military personnel of the Republic of Tajikistan against the military servicemen of the border posts of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic and local residents of the village of Maksat of Batken Oblast of Kyrgyzstan.
At the same time, Aidarbekov informed his Tajik counterpart that as a result of the shelling by Tajik soldiers, one soldier of Kyrgyzstan was killed, and two more got gunshot wounds, border posts and the house of a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic were damaged.
Aidarbekov noted that the Tajik troops were the first to open fire, including by using firearms in the form of mortars.
An armed incident occurred on an disputable section of the Kyrgyz-Tajik State border, where the Tajik side, without agreement with the Kyrgyz side, began construction of a military observation post.
