Kyrgyz citizen tried to smuggle red corundum stone worth $500,000

AKIPRESS.COM - A luggage of a citizen of Kyrgyzstan was confiscated at the Manas airport with undeclared 11.6 kg red corundum natural stone, the State Customs Service.
The price of this stone is estimated at $500,000.
Corundum is the second hardest natural mineral after diamond. Gem-quality corundum is quite rare. Ruby is the red variety of corundum. All other colors of corundum, including colorless, are called sapphires.
