Bishkek discusses issues of HIV-infection response in Kyrgyzstan

AKIPRESS.COM - Bishkek hosted a regional conference dedicated to 30th anniversary of establishment of anti-HIV service in Kyrgyzstan on Sept 17. The event was organized to discuss the situation for combating HIV-infection in Central-Asian regions and development of joint measures.
The Health Minister Kosmosbek Cholponbayev said that currently new methods of AIDS and HIV treatment are being introduced in Kyrgyzstan.
"We reached a significant progress in combating HIV infection for the 30 years. The procurement and testing systems are being improved, as well as modern systems and methods of social support are being introduced," the minister noted.
A goal was set, that 90% of all people living with HIV should be aware of their status by 2021. 90% of people diagnosed with HIV should receive antiretroviral therapy and 90% of people who receive antiretroviral therapy should have viral suppression, organizers said.
