Bishkek, Sept. 17, 2019. / Kabar /. Kyrgyz Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev met with residents of Maksat village of Batken Oblast, the press service of the government said.
The head of government familiarized himself with the current situation in the village in connection with a border incident involving weapons on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border.
During a meeting with residents of the village, Abylgaziev emphasized that resolving border issues and supporting residents of border villages are priority issues for the state that are under special control.
"The government will strengthen the work on delimitation and demarcation of the state border of the Kyrgyz Republic in order to coordinate all disputed areas as soon as possible and achieve the most positive shifts in resolving cross-border issues. We will focus all our efforts on solving border problems taking into account national interests. The solution of such issues requires deeply thought-out measures, a balanced approach and time, they should be addressed only in a constructive manner, in conditions of mutual trust and mutual consideration of interests," he said.
Abylgaziev then visited the Maksat border post and talked to his personnel.
The prime minister expressed his condolences to the family and colleagues of Ravshan Muminov, who died in the line of duty.
The head of government examined the infrastructure of the post, which was damaged by mortar and machine-gun fire, during the border incident in which the Tajik side was the first to use firearms.
Then Abylgaziev held a meeting with the heads of the border service units, where the he emphasized the need to take measures to de-escalate the situation and relieve tension in the border areas, as well as to withdraw forces from the border areas. In this regard, the parties initiated negotiations between the authorized delegations of the two countries.
The prime minister also visited the school, where the residents of the village of Maksat were evacuated, and told them about the measures taken to resolve the issue of their return home.
The evacuated residents thanked the country's military and compatriots for their support, and expressed hope for an early resolution of the situation.
