Tashkent, Sept.18, 2019. /Kabar/. Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Asian Football Cooperation (AFC) President Salman Bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa considered the issues of further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation in Tashkent, the press service of the Uzbek President reported.
The sides noted opportunities for the organization of major international football tournaments in Uzbekistan, including world and continental championships among youth and women's teams.
The importance of the Confederation's continuing assistance in creating a world-class football infrastructure in Uzbekistan, providing methodological support, supporting talented youth, training highly qualified specialists, coaches and referees was stressed.
Salman Bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa expressed sincere gratitude to the Uzbek leader for a warm welcome and highly appreciated the policy, pursued in Uzbekistan to popularize mass sports, including support for the development of football.
The guest confirmed the commitment of the AFC to expanding the full-scale partnership with Uzbekistan, as well as its readiness to jointly promote new programs and projects of practical cooperation.
Uzbekistan has been a member of the Confederation since 1994.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is the governing body of association football in Asia and Australia. It has 47 member countries, mostly located on the Asian and Australian continent, but excludes the transcontinental countries with territory in both Europe and Asia – Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkey – which are instead members of UEFA.
