AKIPRESS.COM - The lower chamber of the Kazakh Parliament today approved ratification of the agreement between Kazakhstan and Ukraine on extradition, Vlast.kz reports.
The document provides extradition of persons for prosecution and execution of the courts verdicts. Extradition is possible in case if the cime is given at least 1 year of imprisonment in both countries or if the person's sentence is more than 6-10 months in prison, Deputy Prosecutor's General Marat Akhmetzhanov said.
The document considers also reasons for refusal of extradition. One of the reasons is if a crime committed in one of the countries is not considered as crime in the second country.
Over the past three years, Ukraine extradited 6 criminals to Kazakhstan, Akhmetzhanov noted.
