Bishkek, Sept.19, 2019 /Kabar/. Mirlan Abdykalykov's Joo Kyulyuk (Fast Runner) film will present Kyrgyzstan at the Schlingel International Film Festival in Germany.
The Joo Kyulyuk film has been selected for the main International Youth Film Competition at the 24th Schlingel International Children's and Youth Film Festival, which will take place in Chemnitz, Germany, on Oct. 7-13.
The SCHLINGEL International Film Festival is an annual festival of children's and youth films, which has established itself as one of the most prestigious film shows in Europe. Every year, the festival attracts more than 25,000 visitors and organizes more than 250 screenings of the latest films from around the world. The main goals of the festival, according to the directorate, are to teach children and young people to better understand the special cinema and to unite the people who create it.
In addition to competitive and non-competitive screenings, the SCHLINGEL Film Festival program includes discussions, seminars, exhibitions and other events for children and adults.
About 124 works from more than 50 countries take part in the Festival's programs, and at the end of the festival week the cooperation of the expert jury and the European children's jury (representatives of young people from different European countries) will select the best in several categories: Children's Film, Junior Film, Youth Film, Short and animated Film, Focus-Germany.
The Joo Kyulyuk film was included in the Junior Film Competition Program, which will feature works for an audience of 11-13 years old.
The film tells about story of the life of a twelve-year-old teenager who, when faced with adult problems, managed to preserve his humanity and kindness.
The Schlingel Festival will feature the European premiere of the Kyrgyz film.
Previously the Joo Kyulyuk film was invited to participate in the Busan International Film Festival competition, as well as in the media festival for children and young people in the Netherlands. Kyrgyzstanis will see the film in cinemas from Oct. 17.
