Bishkek, Sept.19, 2019. /Kabar/. The second session of the Joint Kyrgyz-Kuwaiti Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Technical Cooperation was held in Bishkek, the press service of the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
The Kyrgyz side of the Commission was headed by Finance Minister Baktygul Jeenbayeva, while the Kuwaiti side was headed by Finance Minister, Dr. Naif Falah Al-Hajraf.
Holding the session of the Intergovernmental Commission in 2019 is symbolic in that it takes place in the year of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Kuwait.
During the second session of the Commission the sides worked out and discussed the most urgent areas of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Kuwait, as well as issues of further development and activation of cooperation in such areas as trade, agriculture, energy, education, science, tourism, healthcare, culture, etc.
Finance Minister Baktygul Jeenbayeva noted the Kyrgyz side proposed to work out practical measures to enhance economic cooperation, including between economic entities, to create favorable conditions for mutual supply of industrial and technical products, raw materials, consumer goods and food products. The establishment of joint ventures and logistics centers in the Kyrgyz Republic, which will significantly expand the country’s export opportunities was also proposed.
Important agreements were reached in education, culture and energy.
The following documents were signed during the second session of the Kyrgyz-Kuwaiti Intergovernmental Commission:
- Memorandum of Understanding between the State Commission on Religious Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Waqf and Islamic Affairs of the State of Kuwait;
- Memorandum of Understanding between the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research of the State of Kuwait.
As a result of the meeting, the Protocol of the second session of the Joint Kyrgyz-Kuwaiti Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Technical Cooperation was signed.
