AKIPRESS.COM - Some 54 people were arrested in Kazakhstan on September 16-19, Vlast.kz reports.
Most of them were brought to administration arrest. Activists of the Coalition of Civil Initiatives told a press conference in Kazakhstan International Bureau for Human Rights and Rule of Law that such actions of authorities are connected to the rallies on September 4 and the protests in support of Mukhtar Ablyazov.
"On September 4, 2019, there were several protest actions in various parts of Kazakhstan, where the issues of economic cooperation between China and Kazakhstan were raised. On September 16, authorities started arresting the civil leaders, whom they accused of participation in these events. Today, the number of detained reached 54 people," the activists said.
In their statement, activists said that the Kazakhstan International Bureau for Human Rights and Rule of Law expresses protest against mass arrests.
Activists are claiming police can come to homes without any permits and took the people.
