Bishkek, Sept.23, 2019. /Kabar/. The return of electricity from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan has begun, the press service of the Electric Power Plants OJSC reported.
According to its data, since Sept. 18 this year the Kazakh side begun to return 4.8 million kWh per day. The entire amount of electricity to be returned to the Kyrgyz power grid is scheduled to be completed by the end of November this year.
"Earlier, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan reached an agreement on the exchange of electricity in order to provide Kazakhstani agricultural consumers with irrigation water," the company’s press service said.
Thus, in the period from July 6 to Aug. 31, 2019, 270 million kWh was delivered.
"Previously, some media and social networks published inaccurate information about the alleged "sale" of water to a neighboring country. To date, the Toktogul Reservoir has been filling up with water to reduce electricity generation, which is compensated by the receipt of electricity from Kazakhstan," the company said.
