AKIPRESS.COM - The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will hand over 384,250 books for supplementary reading to Kyrgyzstan's schools.
The event will take place on September 26 at the National Computer Gymnasium School #5 in Bishkek, the US Embassy said.
Minister of Education and Science Kanybek Isakov and USAID Kyrgyz Republic Mission Director Gary Linden are expected to participate in the ceremony.
The books are produced under USAID's Time to Read program, which is a 4-year $9.9 million initiative implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic. The program is designed to improve the reading skills of primary grade children by introducing more interactive ways to learn reading.
By the end of 2020, USAID plans to print and distribute more than 1.2 million story books across the Kyrgyz Republic.
