Kazakhstan considering proposal on reduction of women' retirement age

AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministry of Finances of Kazakhstan is considering a proposal voiced at the National Council of Public Trust meeting on reduction of retirement age for women, Vlast.kz reports.
However, the first Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Finances - Alikhan Smailov told journalists that the life expectancy in the country is growing as in other countries in the world and that the country will have to take into consideration the sustainability of the retirement system.
"We recently passed the amendments to the law, which raise the retirement age of women from 58 to 63 every year by half year. To date, these norms are being implemented. We heard the proposal (to reduce women's retirement age), but a backward process is ongoing in the world, women retire at 65-67 years, because the level and life expectancy of the population in the world is increasing," Smailov said at the meeting.
The Minister said that all proposals voiced at the session are taken into consideration and that the Ministry is working in this direction.
Earlier, social activist Zhanibek Kozhyk during the session of the National Council of Public Trust offered the President to reconsider a retirement age in Kazakhstan and "stop at the age of 55-60 years".
