Bishkek, Sept.26, 2019. /Kabar/. "Providing clean water to the population is a priority of my presidential activity," President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov said during the event on laying a capsule for the construction of a water intake, which will provide the village of Ichke-Bulun of Dzheti-Oguz region with drinking water supply system.
The President took part in the event within the framework of his working trip to Issyk-Kul Oblast.
Director of the Department for Development of Drinking Water Supply and Sewerage under the State Agency for Water Resources Askarbek Toktoshev and Director of the Agency of Development and Investment of Communities (ADIC) Bekzhan Supanaliyev informed about the current projects on clean water, including as part of the sustainable development of rural water supply.
The President once again stressed the resolution of this issue is one of the priorities of his presidential activity. The necessary funds from the republican budget are allocated for these purposes and the funds of international development partners are attracted.
Askarbek Toktoshev noted the construction of the water intake in Ichke-Bulun village is planned to be completed in 2020. About KGS 300 million are envisaged for these purposes.
The sustainable development of rural water supply is being implemented through ADIC jointly with the World Bank and is aimed at rehabilitating water supply systems and improving sanitation in the country's settlements. ADIC intends to implement clean water projects in 117 out of 653 villages by 2024.
Speaking with the local population, President Jeenbekov noted the problem of clean water is acute throughout the country. He reminded that one of his pre-election promises as a candidate for the post of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic was to fully address the issue of providing clean water to the population.
He emphasized that active work is being carried out to build and rehabilitate drinking water supply systems throughout the country. He noted that by 2024 the issue of clean water will be completely resolved.
At the same time, the Kyrgyz leader urged the local population to take care of drinking water supply facilities, as rational and correct operation of the systems also affects their service life.
