Bishkek, Sept.26, 2019. /Kabar/. In New York, Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Chingiz Aidarbekov delivered a speech at the UN Security Council High Level Debate on "Cooperation of the UN with Regional and Sub-Regional Organizations for the in Maintenance of International Peace and Security: The Contribution of the CSTO, CIS and SCO in Countering Terrorism Threats", chaired by Russia, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.
During his speech, Aidarbekov noted Kyrgyzstan takes an active part in supporting all measures taken by the international community in the fight against international terrorism and extremism. In particular, the Kyrgyz Republic actively cooperates with international organizations and many countries in this area in bilateral and multilateral formats.
As the CSTO presiding country and the country that organized the SCO Summit in Bishkek in 2019, the Kyrgyz Republic is working to develop a common position and mechanisms of joint action to counter modern challenges and threats, creating favorable conditions for interaction between relevant services of member states and international partners.
The minister noted the UN should play a central role in coordinating the efforts of the international community in combating the terrorist threat.
The High Level Debate was attended by foreign ministers of the UN Security Council member states and foreign ministers, as well as representatives of the member states of above-mentioned regional organizations.
