American volunteer detained in south of Kyrgyzstan with 1 kg of marijuana

Bishkek, Sept. 27, 2019. / Kabar /. Employees of the Internal Affairs Department of Jalal-Abad Region detained two volunteers of the US Peace Corps with drugs.
The press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the region reported that the police stopped a taxi, whose passengers seemed suspicious. During the inspection of the car in the back seat, a package containing 1 kg of 26 grams of marijuana belonging to US citizens Yii Daniel James and Pavel Devyatkin was discovered.
During the investigative activities of Yii Daniel James admitted that the package belongs to him. He was placed in a temporary detention center.
The police said that James is a volunteer and taught English at local school.
