AKIPRESS.COM - The moment of firing of Kyrgyz control tower on the border with Tajikistan by Tajik border guards was caught on CCTV camera.
The control tower at the Maksat border post in Leilek district of Batken region was fully demolished aft it was fired by Tajik soldiers with a rocket-propelled grenade during the border clashes on September 16.
The tower was built in 2014.
According to some reports, the control tower will be installed in different place. The demolishing of the tower came as part of the protocol of the negotiations between representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. According to that accord, Kyrgyzstan demolishes the control tower, while Tajikistan terminates construction of 4 border posts on the border with Kyrgyzstan.
At the same time, residents of Maksat village where the clashes occurred believe that the tower demolition was a premature move. The village borders with Tajikistan and such towers are crucial for border areas.
