Bishkek, Sept.29, 2019. /Kabar/. President Sooronbay Jeenbekov met with Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Tigran Sargsyan.
Topical issues of cooperation within the framework of Kyrgyzstan's membership in the Eurasian Economic Union were discussed, the press service of the Kyrgyz President reported.
Jeenbekov congratulated Sargsyan on the successful holding of the Eurasian Week International Forum in Bishkek. He expressed confidence that the Forum will make a significant contribution to the practical implementation of the identified plans for business development in the Eurasian space.
The President once again noted the need for further development of cooperation between the countries and deepening of integration within the framework of the EAEU, elimination of existing barriers and obstacles in mutual trade. He stressed that over the 5-year period of its existence, the EAEU has proved its worth and efficiency as an economic integration union.
The Chairman of the EEC Board noted 5 years ago there were certain assumptions about how the national interests of the countries would work within the EAEU.
Sargsyan noted that, to date, the system is fully in place and that prompt action is being taken to address some of the emerging issues.
The sides also discussed the agenda of the upcoming session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the "Transit Potential of the Eurasian Continent" International Forum, which will be held in Yerevan (Armenia).
