AKIPRESS.COM - Passport of a citizen of Kyrgyzstan was seized and arrested in Turkey, the Foreign Ministry says a note was sent to the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
A Kyrgyzstani citizen reported that he cannot leave the Turkish airport, because his passport was taken away. He also complained on social media that the Kyrgyz consulate in Turkey is not reacting.
On October 8, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry confirmed the seizure of passport by Turkish authorities over suspicion of forgery to check the document's validity.
"Consular officials of Kyrgyz Republic in Istanbul held several meetings and negotiations with the the House of Justice in Istanbul. The Kyrgyz side requested to return the passport and stop the investigation, and lift the travel ban imposed on the Kyrgyz national," the statement said.
A note requesting the soonest solution of the problem was sent to the Turkish foreign ministry, the statement said.
The Consulate General of Kyrgyzstan in Istanbul took the question under the control, the statement said.
