Kazakhstan bans land sales to foreigners in border areas

AKIPRESS.COM - The Senate members adopted a law on regulation of agricultural sector, which bans allocation of lands to foreigners in border areas, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.
The prohibition also is applied to stateless persons, foreign companies and Kazakh companies with foreign capital.
Chairman of the committee on agricultural issues, subsoil use and development of rural areas Ali Bektayev said that the document is aimed at increasing effectiveness of state policy in agricultural sector and provision of basics of development of agricultural complex until 2021.
The norms include limitations in transformation of specially protected lands into reserve lands.
The law also provides rules of exploitation of water resources and facilities for evaluation of their technical condition.
