AKIPRESS.COM - Russian TV host Andrey Malahov, who was heavily criticized by Kyrgyz social media users for his statement concerning Kyrgyzstani taxi driver, visited the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Russia, where he expressed his wish to cooperate with Kyrgyzstan.
According to reports, Malahov said the recent scandal became a lesson for him.
Words said by Malahov, a TV host at one of the Russian state-run channels, at the September 24 program about a Kyrgyz taxi driver involved in a fatal road accident which left the son of Russian oligarch dead sparked a huge online anger among the Kyrgyzstanis.
Malahov said: "A 20-year-old tiny tot was driving the taxi, he came from another country and was working as a taxi driver for just a couple of months. Give him $100,000 and he makes his entire family, entire village, all the relatives happy for the rest of their lives, because they will never earn this much, their salary back home is just $10."
After the online backlash, Malahov apologized for his words during a TV program in Kyrgyz language.
